ombre perfection

I was perusing the latest from Monique Lhuillier and cannot even handle how much I love these dresses. Talk about ombre perfection!

The first one has an incredible over-the-shoulder wing detail that I would love any day of the week, and the third is an interesting mix of a black and blue combo that would have been a faux pas but I'm glad is now on-trend. They're all out of my budget, or I would snap up all three and find an excuse to wear them all.

Tuesday Shoesday: fashion-forward sneakers

I am obsessed with pumps of all kinds, but today I'm highlighting a comfy shoe choice that is perfect for long springtime walks or sightseeing and won't have you wincing in pain at the end of the day.

New Balance sneakers, New Balance 442, fashionable sneakers, women's sneakers, pink sneakers

I purchased a similar pair of these New Balance 442s specifically to wear last Spring in Paris and London on long days of museum hopping, and I'm so glad I had them. Bonus: They looked cute with my skinny jeans!

#BBBos Blogging Summit Recap

On Saturday I took a short break from family things and headed over to the Blog Better Boston summit, held at the Boston.com offices.

I'm no model, but I was forced into the step & repeat to show off my dressed up denim. I only look slightly uncomfortable here.

Things I love: MK tortoiseshell watch and MK bag, Seychelles booties
white blazer from The Loft, Lucky Brand jeans from Lord and Taylor, coral lace top from Marshall's, ModCloth necklace, name plate necklace from Etsy

MiniLuxe manis? Yes, please.

This is my learning pose. (Sidenote: My hair is really long, isn't it?)

I had a great time learning with other bloggers and meeting new people!

So great to meet you ladies: Noelle of Rue Le Chat, Amanda of Prim and Propah, Smita of Hogger and Co, Susan of Susan Style Blog, Alana of Good Girl Gone Blog, Holly of Holly Dolly, Emily of Emily's Going Nuts, Brooke from Insparisian, Kenzie from Cave Girl in the City

splurge vs. save: modern nautical home decor

I've been noticing a trend among home decor, available everywhere from West Elm to Homegoods to Neiman Marcus, in glass knots.

Which one costs $230 and which is just $12?

splurge ($230) // save ($19.95) // save a little more ($12)
in order, as shown above: save a little more, save, splurge

on trend: denim vests

I'm excited to start a new series, on trend, to talk about recent trends and how to do them right.

Lately, I've noticed a frightening number of jean vests available in various stores, and that frightens me a little bit.

When I think jean vest I think back to the 1980s' love of denim paired with neon patterns that carried into the early 1990s. Please, ladies, do the world a favor and stay away from this combo of big hair and neon patterns so you don't end up looking like something out of an episode of Saved by the Bell (or, in Kim Cattrall's case, the "before" from SATC).

Here are a few ladies who have done the denim thing right recently.

Khloe Kardashian Odom wore a maxi, casual sandals, and relaxed hair with aviators and a pop of pattern.

Kendi layered a tee, jean vest, and statement necklace. The necklace softens the vest, and the pastel skirt gives the outfit an extra girly flair.

Scalloped hem, neutrals, ponytail, and vest = fab casual look.
